Vacancy Description:

One of the most technical positions in Construction! Our client is a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor specialising in major design and build projects across London. We have been asked to supply a Senior Defects Manager to help support refurb and build projects ranging from £25m - £150m in value. We are looking for a highly technical candidate, somebody with excellent design experience who can work through major defects with the end clients. You will need excellent structural engineering knowledge, very good commercial acumen and strong client facing skills. This is a high profile role, you will be the most senior person in the business in this function reporting into the Construction Director.

Senior Defects Manager Responsibilities:

- Managing Client / Client Rep, understanding and reporting on any latent build issues that may arise.
- Working with specialist contractors to come up with a solution to any problems.
- Overseeing the work of contractors, ensuring the highest of quality standards are met.
- Working closely with any tenants / unit owners to ensure the minimum disruption during the works.
- Chairing monthly defects meetings with the Construction and Commercial Directors.
- Providing feedback to the Construction Director to ensure lessons learnt from the resolution of latent defects are put into practice on future schemes.

Senior Defects Manager Experience required:

- Minimum 15 years post qualified Construction experience.
- Minimum 5 years Defect Manager experience.
- Degree educated, ideally Structural / Civil Engineering.
- Major new build / refurb project experience.
- A proven track record of successfully achieving budget, quality and programme requirements as the Main Contractor lead on multi-organisational defective works projects.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports for internal and external audiences.
- Strong experience in managing internal and external relationships.
- Substantial proven management experience.
