Vacancy Description:

Our client is a leading construction consultancy who work on large scale rail and infrastructure project work. The focus of this role will be to assist in the process of obtaining environmental consents, in a timely manner, from each environmental consent granting body associated with the delivery of sections of HS2.

Responsibilities include:

- Obtain all identified Environmental Consents required for Stage 1 operational activities, as required.
- Liaison with Local Authorities and Environment Agency to deliver consents as required by the construction programme
- Obtaining and monitoring all required environmental consents required by environmental legislation and any conditions pertaining to delivery of projects
- Assist in the identification of the necessary Environmental Consents required for Stage 2
- Provide feedback as required to commercial and delivery teams regarding environmental obligations as relevant to the consenting process
- Record all communications with third parties as evidence to support consent process
- Creating and monitoring the implementation of environmental plans, strategies, standards, procedures and systems, regulations and statutory legislation within a Major Programme, in line with corporate requirements
- Development and Management of Environmental Management Systems and Sustainability Strategy
- Liaising with Governmental departments and outside environmental agencies as required by individual projects.

Person Specification:

- Flexible, friendly and adaptable approach to work
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. environmental management / science)
- Membership of relevant professional institute (e.g. IEMA)
- Understanding of UK environmental legislation and consents
- Some experience of undertaking activities related to the key responsibilities above, particularly in relation to the implementation of environmental management systems
- Experience of working within the construction or rail industry would be beneficial
- Practical IT skills, including MS Office
